Welcome to our DIY tutorial on making natural soy candles!
Creating your own candles is not only a fun and rewarding activity but also allows you to customize scents and designs to match your preferences. Follow these simple steps to craft beautiful soy candles at home.
Materials Needed:
- Soy wax flakes
- Candle wicks
- Wick stickers or glue dots
- Fragrance oils or essential oils
- Candle dye chips (optional)
- Heat-resistant containers (e.g., glass jars)
- Double boiler or microwave-safe container
- Thermometer - Stirring utensil
- Labels (optional)

Instructions:
1. Prepare Your Containers: Clean and dry your containers thoroughly. Place wick stickers or glue dots at the bottom centre of each container, then firmly press the candle wicks onto the stickers, ensuring they are centred.
2. Melt the Soy Wax: Using a double boiler or microwave-safe container, melt the soy wax flakes until completely liquid. Monitor the temperature with a thermometer and heat to around 170-180°F (76-82°C). Most wax suppliers will tell you the melting temperatures.
3. Add Fragrance and/or Colour: Once the wax has melted, remove it from the heat source and allow it to cool slightly (around 160°F or 71°C). Stir in your desired fragrance oils or essential oils, as well as candle dye chips if you wish to add colour. Adjust the amount of fragrance and dye based on your preferences.
4. Pour the Wax: Carefully pour the scented wax into your prepared containers, ensuring the wick remains centred. Leave a small space at the top to avoid overflow.
5. Set the Candles: Allow the candles to cool and harden completely, typically for 4-6 hours. Trim the wicks to about ¼ inch (0.6 cm) before lighting.

6. Optional: Add Labels: Once the candles have fully set, you can add labels with the candle's name, scent, and any other details you'd like to include.
Enjoy Your Handmade Soy Candles!
